Wax Melt Safety Guidelines
At The Doherty Company, we prioritize safety alongside enjoyment. Please follow these safety guidelines for using our wax melts:
-
Compliance with Safety Standards: Ensure that our wax melts and warmers comply with UK safety standards, including the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 and the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
-
CLP Labeling: Each of our wax melts includes a CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) sticker. This label provides important safety information regarding the contents of the wax melt.
-
Use of Original Packaging: For proper storage, always keep the wax melts in their original packaging to prevent contamination and to retain important information from the CLP label.
-
Placement and Stability: Position the wax warmer on a stable, level surface that is heat-resistant and away from flammable materials, in accordance with fire safety practices as outlined in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
-
Supervision: Do not leave wax warmers unattended during operation. This helps prevent accidents and aligns with general fire safety recommendations.
-
Proper Usage: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the correct usage and maximum capacity of the wax warmer. Overfilling can cause spills and increase fire risk.
-
Child and Pet Safety: Keep wax melts and warmers out of reach of children and pets to prevent ingestion or burns, in line with the Child Safety (Toy Safety) Regulations 2011.
-
Ventilation: Use wax melts in well-ventilated areas to minimize the buildup of fragrances or fumes, promoting a safe indoor environment.
-
Cleaning and Maintenance: Allow the warmer to cool down before cleaning or changing wax to avoid burns. Dispose of wax responsibly, adhering to local waste disposal regulations.
-
Turn Off When Not in Use: Ensure the warmer is switched off when not in use, particularly when leaving the house or going to sleep, to mitigate fire hazards.
-
Emergency Preparedness: Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures, including having a smoke alarm installed and working, in line with the Fire Safety Act 2021.
By following these guidelines, you can safely enjoy our wax melts while ensuring compliance with UK legislation.
