Wax Melt Safety

Wax Melt Safety Guidelines

At The Doherty Company, we prioritize safety alongside enjoyment. Please follow these safety guidelines for using our wax melts:

  1. Compliance with Safety Standards: Ensure that our wax melts and warmers comply with UK safety standards, including the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 and the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

  2. CLP Labeling: Each of our wax melts includes a CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) sticker. This label provides important safety information regarding the contents of the wax melt.

  3. Use of Original Packaging: For proper storage, always keep the wax melts in their original packaging to prevent contamination and to retain important information from the CLP label.

  4. Placement and Stability: Position the wax warmer on a stable, level surface that is heat-resistant and away from flammable materials, in accordance with fire safety practices as outlined in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

  5. Supervision: Do not leave wax warmers unattended during operation. This helps prevent accidents and aligns with general fire safety recommendations.

  6. Proper Usage: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the correct usage and maximum capacity of the wax warmer. Overfilling can cause spills and increase fire risk.

  7. Child and Pet Safety: Keep wax melts and warmers out of reach of children and pets to prevent ingestion or burns, in line with the Child Safety (Toy Safety) Regulations 2011.

  8. Ventilation: Use wax melts in well-ventilated areas to minimize the buildup of fragrances or fumes, promoting a safe indoor environment.

  9. Cleaning and Maintenance: Allow the warmer to cool down before cleaning or changing wax to avoid burns. Dispose of wax responsibly, adhering to local waste disposal regulations.

  10. Turn Off When Not in Use: Ensure the warmer is switched off when not in use, particularly when leaving the house or going to sleep, to mitigate fire hazards.

  11. Emergency Preparedness: Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures, including having a smoke alarm installed and working, in line with the Fire Safety Act 2021.

By following these guidelines, you can safely enjoy our wax melts while ensuring compliance with UK legislation.
